Long live boy bands! If you don’t know these bands, Boyfriends is 1994! plus 2 other dudes, and Boys & Sex features members of Boy Problems, Snowing, Make Me, etc. Frankly, you need this split. No exceptions. Both bands kill it. I will post a link to buy/preorder this 7″ when I find one, and you should take advantage of it. These bands deserve your support.

Over 90% of the new Post-Rock bands I hear lately feel like a cliché rehash of older, better bands. The genre, as a whole, has really been boring me. I downloaded “We’ve Been Talking” with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with what I heard the first time around. Enemies combine technical ability, awesome melodies, twinkly guitars, and interesting song structures to create an album that feels original and fresh. Imagine a larger-scaled (notice: not “epic”, that’s a terrible adjective) Ghosts and Vodka and you might get a good idea of what to expect. I don’t know if that makes sense at all. Just check it out.

Loma Prieta never seem to settle. Consistently from album to album these dudes tend to change up their sound. Somehow, this recipe doesn’t disappoint. Life/Less marks a departure from their more drawn out sound found on Last City and Dark Mountain. Both instruments and vocals are taken to the next level, both in terms of pace and intensity. A pretty poor rip has been floating around the internet for a few months now since this has been a vinyl only release but Kenny from Comadre posted the studio mp3 files on his blog SiqxShit. Check that out if you havent done so yet. Also, anybody going to the fest this year? I think Cameron and I are both going. Let’s hang out if you’re there. Cool dad.
