Mockingbird Wish Me Luck – Living Weakness 7″
March 21, 2012
This 2 song 7″ was released as part of Run For Cover’s subscription series. MBWML is a Canadian band that makes some gravelly punk rock. It’s moody, it’s melodic, and I think it’s super well rounded. In my opinion, this is the best “under the radar” band making this sort of music right now. If they ever record a full length, I’ll be all over it. These 2 songs are particularly brooding, relying on guitar leads that are kinda low on the register and strong, cathartic choruses. Another great release for a young band with loads of potential. If you like this, check out their last 7″.
Joyce Manor – Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired
March 17, 2012
I love these guys, but they need to write longer songs. Or maybe more of them. This record is fantastic. The production sound great (thanks to Jack Shirley of Comadre) and I’m digging the more pronounced pop sensibilities and infectious guitar leads. I even love the strange cover song and the slow acoustic guitar + piano song, but c’mon! 13 minutes of music? What a tease.
Into It. Over It. – Snug
March 17, 2012
This one totally flew under my radar. I guess it was supposed to be out last September but due to some health issues with the guy who runs the label, they’ve only shipped in the last month. 3 songs are from the 52 weeks collection, 1 is from the split with Such Gold, and the last is a cover of Evan’s other band, Stay Ahead of the Weather. All songs were recorded live for the Snug Sessions last year. Evan’s performance is, as always, excellent. I’d post a link to buy the record but only 250 were pressed and they went fast. Get into it. Pun intended.

Someone buy this for me.
Sneak Peak
March 8, 2012
I was going to wait a while to do this, but I’m just so stoked on this song right now that I had to post something. This song is called “Swamp”, and it’s from a band called Avair. This band features one of our oldest friends and a new friend, and we’re expecting big things out of them in the future. More music and a physical release coming soon!
