Enemies – We’ve Been Talking

Over 90% of the new Post-Rock bands I hear lately feel like a cliché rehash of older, better bands. The genre, as a whole, has really been boring me. I downloaded “We’ve Been Talking” with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with what I heard the first time around. Enemies combine technical ability, awesome melodies, twinkly guitars, and interesting song structures to create an album that feels original and fresh. Imagine a larger-scaled (notice: not “epic”, that’s a terrible adjective) Ghosts and Vodka and you might get a good idea of what to expect. I don’t know if that makes sense at all.
